Must-Have Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field

  • 8+ years of experience in HR, Total Rewards, Compensation, or Benefits leadership

  • Strong experience managing compensation, benefits, and rewards programs

  • Advanced knowledge of benefits regulations and compliance including ACA, COBRA, ERISA, HIPAA, FLSA, FMLA, and EEO

  • Hands-on experience with HRIS systems and benefits administration platforms

  • Experience managing annual compensation cycles, merit increases, and incentive programs

  • Strong data analysis, benchmarking, and compensation strategy experience

  • Ability to manage sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism


Position Summary

The Total Rewards Manager is responsible for designing, managing, and optimizing the organization’s compensation, benefits, and rewards programs. This role ensures the company remains competitive in attracting and retaining talent while aligning total rewards strategies with business goals and organizational culture.

The position leads benefits administration, compensation planning, compliance oversight, and HR systems related to benefits and rewards. The role also partners closely with leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure programs deliver value to employees and support overall organizational performance.


Key Responsibilities

Compensation & Total Rewards Strategy

  • Lead the design and management of competitive compensation, benefits, and rewards programs to support talent attraction and retention.

  • Conduct compensation benchmarking and market analysis to maintain internal equity and external competitiveness.

  • Support and manage the annual compensation review cycle, including merit increases, salary adjustments, and incentive program administration.

  • Assist with the preparation and delivery of Total Rewards Statements for employees.

Benefits Administration

  • Oversee administration of all employee benefit programs, including medical, pharmacy, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, retirement plans, and employee assistance programs.

  • Lead annual open enrollment planning and execution, ensuring accurate setup and communication across the organization.

  • Identify opportunities to improve benefits offerings while maximizing employee engagement and program value.

  • Support development and management of wellness initiatives that promote employee health and productivity.

Compliance & Regulatory Oversight

  • Ensure benefits and compensation programs comply with federal and state regulations, including ACA, COBRA, ERISA, HIPAA, FLSA, FMLA, and GINA.

  • Monitor regulatory changes and ensure company policies and systems remain compliant.

  • Maintain proper documentation, reporting, and communication related to benefits and compliance programs.

Workers’ Compensation Management

  • Manage and oversee workers’ compensation claims, coordinating with employees, management, and third-party administrators.

  • Communicate employee work restrictions and coordinate appropriate accommodations.

  • Facilitate effective return-to-work processes and ensure proper case management.

HRIS & Benefits Systems Management

  • Lead administration and optimization of HRIS benefits modules, including Benefits Administration, Government Compliance, and Total Rewards systems.

  • Ensure benefits data integrity, deduction accuracy, and successful carrier data feeds.

  • Manage system functionality related to COBRA administration, ACA reporting, and employee self-service benefits tools.

  • Support automated tracking and reporting for FMLA, ACA, and OSHA reporting requirements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Accounting, Finance, Payroll, Operations, and HR leadership to ensure accurate data reporting and system integration.

  • Analyze program data and provide insights to leadership regarding benefits costs, compensation trends, and workforce engagement strategies.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field

  • Professional certifications such as:

    • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP)

    • Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS)

    • Certified Workers’ Compensation Professional (CWCP)

  • Experience working with ESOP plans

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and HR analytics tools

  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement strategic HR programs
