Maintenance Manager

Location: St Paul, MN
Our client is a privately owned dairy company with manufacturing facilities spread across different locations in the United States.
The Maintenance Supervisor plays a key role in providing leadership, direction, and support to the maintenance department.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establish and oversee a qualified maintenance team responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of all equipment and facilities.
  • Ensure all operating equipment is maintained in satisfactory condition.
  • Implement an effective preventive maintenance program to minimize unscheduled downtime.
  • Collaborate with engineering and management to identify opportunities for equipment modification and replacement that will enhance operations and reduce maintenance expenses.
  • Conduct cost analyses of proposed new equipment and make recommendations to management.
  • Plan and manage the inventory of spare parts and maintenance supplies.
  • Implement cost-reduction measures to control expenses related to repairs, utilities, pretreatment, and maintenance. May be involved in developing the capital budget.
  • Optimize department schedules to ensure efficient preventive and repair services, while minimizing unnecessary overtime costs.
  • Supervise and manage assigned employees, including recruitment, scheduling, training, evaluation, and performance management. Adhere to work rules, union contract provisions (if applicable), and employment policies.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred: Associate or bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 3 to 8 years of maintenance, mechanical engineering, or related maintenance experience, with demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Experience in aseptic operations within the Dairy, Food, Beverage, or Pharmaceutical industry.
  • Prior experience managing a maintenance department with at least 10-20 employees.
  • Certification and/or license may be required during employment, with preference given to electrical, welding, boiler, refrigeration, compressed air, wastewater, or plumbing licenses or certificates.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SAP, Sage X3, AMM, Maximo is desirable.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment is beneficial.
