An industrial facility in Baltimore, Maryland is hiring a Grade 1 Licensed Stationary Engineer to operate and maintain boilers, air compressors, cooling towers, and related plant equipment. This role also functions as a Multi-Skilled Mechanic, supporting pipe fitting, welding, millwright and machinist work, equipment operation and rigging, and basic electrical tasks across the facility.

Schedule
Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Compensation
$37.61 per hour.

What You'll Do

The Stationary Engineer operates and maintains boilers, air compressors, cooling towers, and related equipment in accordance with state and plant requirements, working with site leadership to ensure full compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. This person serves as the primary Grade 1 Licensed Stationary Engineer, or as a designated backup when required, providing reliable boiler coverage during regular operations and completing continuing education requirements to maintain licensing. Beyond core stationary engineering duties, this role performs pipe fitting work including layout, threading, gasket and bolt-up techniques, and butt-weld prep, along with welding and burning tasks such as stick welding carbon and stainless steel and using a cutting torch. The role also covers millwright and machinist work, including operating a shop lathe and milling machine, rebuilding gearboxes, pumps, blowers, and conveyors, and assisting with spare parts inventory, as well as equipment operation and rigging, including forklifts, front-end loaders, and hydraulic cranes, and basic electrical troubleshooting and safety procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Grade 1 Stationary Engineer license from the Maryland Board of Stationary Engineers
  • Ability to complete required coursework, examinations, and practical applications to maintain licensing
  • Previous experience as a Multi-Skilled Mechanic
  • 5 to 8 years of relevant industrial maintenance experience
  • Working knowledge of pipe fitting, welding, rigging, and basic electrical systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with millwright or machinist work, including lathe and milling machine operation
  • Experience operating forklifts, front-end loaders, or hydraulic cranes
  • Experience rebuilding pumps, gearboxes, or conveyor systems
