Job Summary:

  1. Upon admission, the Therapeutic Exercise Specialist assesses residents' conditions and devises/implements therapy plans to manage their conditions, prevent further disabilities, and promote long-term health benefits.
  2. The primary focus of the role is to enhance movements, alleviate pain, and prevent disability through exercise therapy, manual techniques, and other approaches.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate the residents' conditions and formulate an appropriate plan for physical rehabilitation.
  • Aid residents in improving their mobility.
  • Alleviate residents' pain through exercise, hands-on therapy, stretching, and utilization of physical therapy devices.
  • Train residents to effectively use physical therapy equipment.
  • Assist and monitor residents in performing tasks.
  • Provide guidance to residents regarding what to expect throughout their recovery process and how to handle different situations.
  • Maintain confidentiality to uphold residents' trust and safeguard facility operations.
  • Supervise physical therapy assistants whenever necessary.
  • Ensure a safe and clean working environment.
  • Adhere to infection-control policies and protocols to safeguard residents and employees.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements.
  • Contribute to the interdisciplinary team's efforts in providing optimal resident care.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Program
  • Current New York State PT License
  • Prior experience in skilled nursing/long-term care is a plus.
