A food manufacturing plant is seeking a Maintenance Superintendent to lead a team of Maintenance Supervisors and drive the plant's building and equipment maintenance efforts. This role owns maintenance strategy to minimize mechanical downtime, keep production lines running, and lead the development of Preventive and Predictive Maintenance programs, TPM, and related systems.

Schedule
First shift. May require occasional long hours and weekend work depending on operational needs.

Compensation
$100,000 to $130,000, plus flat rate bonus.

What You'll Do
This role leads maintenance systems and processes to drive performance and minimize costs, using Root Cause Analysis, Reliability-Centered Maintenance, and TPM methodologies to keep the plant operating at maximum capacity. The superintendent schedules work, reduces unscheduled downtime, and works to improve efficiency while managing costs across the maintenance function. Leading and developing the maintenance team is central to the role, including delegation, planning, and organizing work assignments. The role also enforces plant safety policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations and supporting a strong safety culture. Day to day, the superintendent serves as a primary problem solver for operational challenges, providing solutions to equipment failures and other issues to minimize disruption and prevent recurring problems. Working in partnership with the Plant Engineer, this role manages a Preventive and Predictive Maintenance program using the SAP PM Module, analyzing program data to continuously improve processes and equipment reliability. The role also tracks and reports on key performance indicators, including equipment reliability, supplier performance, and overall equipment effectiveness, and leads continuous improvement efforts across the maintenance function.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university
  • 3+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Food manufacturing experience
  • Maintenance supervisory experience
  • Experience training, coaching, or mentoring less experienced staff, or managing a process or project
  • Advanced technical skills in mechanical or electrical fields (PLCs, instrumentation, mechanical engineering, etc.)
  • Experience leading resource planning in a large manufacturing environment
  • Thorough knowledge of maintenance management systems, work order processes, preventive and predictive maintenance, and TPM
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational planning, teamwork, and analytical reasoning skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and SAP

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) or similar credential
  • Presentation skills
  • Experience with Six Sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies
