What You'll Do
This manager develops, maintains, and improves statistical and consensus-based demand forecasts across product lines, customers, channels, and regions, leading the demand-planning component of the S&OP/IBP process to ensure cross-functional alignment on forecasts, assumptions, risks, and business priorities. The role analyzes historical sales, customer demand, market trends, seasonality, promotional activity, and new product introductions affecting demand, partnering with Sales, Marketing, Finance, Operations, and Supply Planning to gather business intelligence and establish one approved demand plan. This position monitors forecast performance using metrics such as forecast accuracy, MAPE, and bias, identifies root causes of forecast variances, and implements corrective actions to improve planning accuracy. The manager supports inventory strategies by providing demand-based recommendations for safety stock, service levels, and inventory positioning, and identifies and mitigates risks related to shortages, excess inventory, supply constraints, and demand volatility. This role develops demand plans for new product introductions, product transitions, engineering changes, and discontinuations, and works closely with Supply Planning to balance customer demand with production capacity, material availability, lead times, and inventory objectives. The manager drives continuous improvement in demand-planning processes, systems, and data quality, evaluates advanced analytics and AI or machine-learning forecasting capabilities where appropriate, prepares and presents demand reviews, KPI dashboards, and executive-level summaries, and establishes demand-planning policies and best practices.
