Engineering Lead, Surgical Robotics

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $130,000 to $160,000 per year

Lead the engineering of next-generation orthopedic technologies, from AR surgical navigation to robotic integration, and turn clinical needs into devices that improve patient outcomes.

Must-Haves

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Computer Science, Software, Electrical, Biomedical, or related)
• 6+ years developing complex medical devices or related technology products
• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and complex projects
• Strong systems engineering background integrating software, electronics, mechanical hardware, and algorithms
• Solid knowledge of medical device design controls, risk management, and V&V
• Valid passport (or ability to obtain one) for international travel as needed

What You'll Do

• Serve as the primary technical authority for AR navigation and robotic system integration
• Define system architecture, interfaces, tracking, coordinate systems, and control functions
• Translate clinical concepts into complete, commercially viable medical devices
• Lead execution across electrical, mechanical, software, materials, biomedical, and systems engineering
• Partner with Clinical, Product, Quality, Regulatory, and Manufacturing to build executable plans
• Ensure compliance with FDA, EU MDR, IEC, and ISO standards throughout development
• Identify technical risks and oversee verification, validation, usability, and design transfer
• Mentor engineers and evaluate emerging tech in AR, AI, sensors, and automation

Nice-to-Haves

• Master's degree in Engineering or a technical discipline
• Experience with orthopedic navigation, image-guided surgery, or surgical robotics
• Expertise in computer vision, sensor fusion, optical tracking, or mechatronics
• Familiarity with IEC 62304, ISO 13485, ISO 14971, and IEC 60601
• Track record taking Class II or Class III devices from concept to commercialization
• Hands-on experience with capital medical equipment or orthopedic instrumentation
• Issued patents or a proven record of technical innovation

Compensation and Benefits

• $130,000 to $160,000 base salary based on experience
