Quality Engineer

Quality Assurance Engineer

Location: Rutherfordton, NC

Purpose - The main objective of this role is to enhance, implement, maintain, optimize, and constantly improve the manufacturing capability for Industrial and Aerospace Bearing Manufacturing. This should be done in accordance with ISO9001:2015 and AS9100 Rev. D quality systems. Additionally, this position will be responsible for quality planning, quality supervision, and cost reduction activities related to quality.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required
  • A minimum of two years of experience in quality engineering within a manufacturing environment
  • Preferred certification as a Quality Engineer
  • Proficiency in using quality core tools such as FMEA, Control Plans, MSA, and PPAPs
  • Ability to plan and execute quality tasks for new product introduction and ongoing product improvement
  • Thorough understanding of quality systems requirements of AS9100, ISO 9001, NADCAP, etc.
  • Proficient in reading blueprints and knowledgeable in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
  • Familiarity with gauge calibration monitoring software Indysoft Insite is preferred
  • Experience with other essential quality tools such as pareto charts, cause and effect diagrams, 8D, and 5-Why analysis
  • Auditing skills and capability to assess compliance with quality standards
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities using logic and data analysis
  • Proficiency in project management and leading teams to implement improvement actions

Core Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain and ensure compliance with AS9100 Rev. D and ISO9001:2015 quality systems, and address any issues related to AS, ISO, and NADCAP
  2. Participate in customer and third-party audits of the quality system at the Shiloh Plant
  3. Provide oversight for nonconforming products through active involvement with the material review board, scrap mitigation, and management of internal failures
  4. Lead quality planning activities for new products with the aim of meeting AS9100, ISO9001:2015, NADCAP, and customer requirements
  5. Investigate and promptly address product quality and manufacturing issues, as well as respond to customer inquiries and complaints
  6. Conduct in-depth analyses on systemic issues and implement corrective actions to address root causes
  7. Train associates on the procedures and work instructions of the quality system
  8. Effectively communicate and resolve quality system issues within local operations, other locations, business units, customers, and suppliers
  9. Assist with responsibilities in metrology and calibration labs
  10. Manage gauge systems, including calibration, gauge MSA activities, and troubleshooting production gauging
