Senior Project Engineer

Location: Winston Salem, NC

A renowned global civil contractor is seeking an accomplished Lead Project Engineer. Specializing in Heavy Civil and Site Development projects, this organization is a leader in the industry.

The ideal candidate should have experience working on medium to large scale projects in heavy civil, roadway, and bridge construction, with budgets exceeding $30M.

Responsibilities:

  • Thoroughly review contracts and specifications.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager, Project Superintendent, and Project Engineer as needed.
  • Assist in the preparation and update of project schedules.
  • Manage quantity reporting, project costs, and forecasting.
  • Solicit pricing from subcontractors and vendors, including change orders.
  • Coordinate requisition of equipment and material deliveries as necessary.
  • Resolve project challenges and conflicts by working closely with subcontractors, suppliers, and workforce.
  • Aid in monthly billing, cash flow projections, and change order processing.
  • Maintain document control, including submittal schedules, contract documents, and project record drawings.
  • Review daily reports from Heavy Job for accuracy.
  • Compile and update technical submittal lists.
  • Adhere to notice requirements such as inspections, survey staking, joint measurements, utility locations and adjustments, testing, claims, etc.
  • Issue correspondence to subcontractors and vendors when revised plans and specifications impact products or services.
  • Support project closeout activities.
  • Carry out additional assignments under the guidance of the Project Manager.

Job Requirements:

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Construction Engineering and Management (CEM).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the civil construction field, combining office and field roles.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and Primavera 6.
