Assurance & Advisory Senior Manager / Principal North York CPA Firm

Our TorontoJobs.ca Recruiting division client, a well-established mid-sized CPA firm located in North York, is seeking an experienced Assurance & Advisory Senior Manager / Principal to join their growing team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a senior assurance professional with a strong public accounting background who is looking to take on a leadership role within an established and growing firm. The successful candidate will have significant experience managing assurance engagements, advising owner-managed and privately held businesses, and working directly with clients and partners on complex accounting and business matters.

The firm is open to considering candidates at either the Senior Manager or Principal level, depending on experience, technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and overall fit.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage a diverse portfolio of assurance engagements, including review and audit engagements

Oversee engagements from planning through completion, ensuring quality, efficiency, and adherence to professional standards

Review financial statements, working papers, and engagement documentation

Provide accounting and assurance advice to privately held and owner-managed businesses

Work closely with clients to understand their business, accounting, and financial reporting needs

Identify accounting, financial reporting, and operational issues and provide practical recommendations

Assist clients with complex accounting matters and business advisory needs

Work closely with partners on significant and complex client engagements

Manage multiple engagements and ensure deadlines and budgets are met

Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients

Review and oversee the work of managers, senior accountants, and junior team members

Provide coaching, mentoring, and technical guidance to the assurance team

Contribute to the development and implementation of engagement and quality-control processes

Participate in business development activities and identify opportunities to expand the firm’s assurance and advisory services

Participate in client meetings and presentations as a senior representative of the firm

Stay current with developments in Canadian accounting standards, assurance standards, and other relevant professional requirements

Qualifications

CPA designation is required

Minimum 6 years of management-level experience in public accounting

Minimum 3 years of experience at the Senior Manager level is required

Strong Canadian public accounting experience with a focus on assurance

Extensive experience managing audit and review engagements

Strong technical knowledge of Canadian accounting standards and assurance standards

Experience working with privately held and owner-managed businesses

Strong client relationship and communication skills

Proven ability to manage multiple engagements, teams, and deadlines

Demonstrated leadership and team development capabilities

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and advisory skills

Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with partners and other professionals

Business development experience is an asset, particularly for candidates being considered at the Principal level
