Journeyman Electrician

Location: Chesterfield, MI


Our certified electricians and technicians frequently travel out of state for an average of three-week intervals. Upon returning, they are given one week of local work before being sent out again.

All expenses are covered when traveling out of state, and we have a significant amount of out-of-state projects scheduled for 2024. While working out of state, the schedule is 7 days a week with 12-hour shifts, typically starting at 6:00am.

Job Summary:
Our company is seeking a certified electrician who will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, operation, and repair of electrical systems. The role also involves supervising and training electrician assistants.

Essential Duties/ Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate adherence to policies and procedures and set a positive example
  • Create schedules and develop parts lists to ensure completion of various electrical tasks
  • Prioritize safety by integrating a zero accident approach into all construction operations
  • Ensure availability and good condition of tools, equipment, and parts required for the assigned work
  • Effectively communicate with customers, colleagues, and management
  • Meet all jobsite requirements and fulfill responsibilities accordingly
  • Provide necessary training and guidance to staff in the trade
  • Plan the layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures based on job specifications and local regulations
  • Install, maintain, modify, troubleshoot, and repair electrical distribution systems and related equipment in industrial settings
  • Handle EMT and Rigid conduit installations
  • Comply with the current National Electric Code
  • Complete work orders and maintain records of materials used
  • Utilize blueprints, wiring diagrams, and installation manuals provided by manufacturers to complete assigned projects
  • Survey electrical systems, circuits, and plans

Job Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience as a journeyman electrician
  • Valid State Journeyman Electrician License
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical blueprints
  • Dedication to maintaining a safe working environment
  • Reliable mode of transportation
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret written scopes of work
  • Proficiency in bending and installing up to 4" RMC Conduit
  • Thorough understanding and mastery of the National Electrical Code requirements
  • Capability to perform basic mathematical and electrical calculations and use measuring tools
  • Knowledge of identifying trade materials by size, shape, and function, and safe usage of power and hand tools
  • Current valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work well in a team
  • Ability to lift and carry at least 50 lbs. without assistance
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
Physical Requirements of Position:
  • This position involves frequent walking in factory production areas
  • Capability to safely lift and carry objects weighing up to 20 lbs. on a regular basis, 50 lbs. frequently, and 80 lbs. occasionally
  • Ability to work skillfully with both hands consistently
  • Capability to climb ladders and scaffolding while maintaining balance
  • Willingness to travel to assigned jobsites within and outside the state
